You mentioned "wiping your system" and reinstalling XP. I have been
Wondering since getting XP (moving from W98SE) if I can reinstall XP
over existing install -- just like I did quite regularly with W98SE --
without losing all else that is installed. The XP recovery diskettes
don't seem to provide for a reinstall like that. As I send this message
I have a couple of "EXE" and one "DLL" missing -- and don't have my
hidden recovery partition.
Anyone play with this and have a solution?
I was troubleshooting a dial up issue for my wife's computer with Earthlink, and they suggested using the run command, and typing in: sfc /scannow making sure you have your windows XP install disk in your cd drive, this scans windows files for missing pieces and re-installs from the install disk. I hope this helps.
