After you have restored here boot with the XP Recovery Console cdrom,
then run chkdsk /r on the new disk. For 30 gigs be prepared to just
let it grind for some hours (maybe as many as 6 or more). 10GB took
about 2 hours to finish for me.
Then reboot, you should be ok. If it still won't boot make sure the
contents of boot.ini are then correct.
This is what worked for me anyway....
