Len,
Did a very similar thing two weeks ago. I have a T30 with the standard 60G
4200 rpm hard drive. Bought a 60G 7200 rpm drive and put it in the Ultrabay
2000 hard drive caddy. I have been using Acronis software lately
(www.acronis.com) for hard drive imaging, partitioning etc, so I bought
Migration Expert and migrated the data from the old drive to the new one.
Removed both drives, put the new one in the T30 and all was well. System is
running XP Pro. I was a bit concerned about cooling the new drive but it
never gets hotter than 45C so it looks good.
best wishes,
Bruce
