    It should be possible, assuming that the CD/RW drive is built off of the
    same standards as the CD drive. I did this last year to use the CD/RW
    from my Dell Latitude in my ThinkPad A21p when I went on vacation
    (wanted to burn digital pics to CD along the way for backup). It worked
    fine. I was able to remove the Dell plastic and replace it with the IBM
    plastic for the side rails and eject mechanism. The only issue was the
    front cover. The little tabs for securing it didn't line up right. I
    ended up just using it without the front cover. Of course, that's an
    issue specific to the A21p, so you may or may not face it with the 770.
