Hello all
I've now got my desktop that dare not speak it's name (it was the number
2 choice for half the price) and I have to say that Windows XP hasn't
been nearly as obnoxious as I had feared. Why I hardly feel like one of
the dammed at all...
Of course even though this was supposed to be the machine that I wasn't
going to tinker with I've immediately added a CDR burner, a floppy and a
second hard drive.
Of course I also installed Win XP lite (highly recommended
<www.PClite.com>) and removed Outlook and Windows scripting host.
I like the way the added components were immediately picked up by XP, I
was even able to burn CDs straight out of the OS.
I should be done but of course I want more, I want the OS on the smaller
(30 GB) drive that I added reserving the larger OEM (80 Gb) drive for data.
I thought about cloning the drive using XXcopy but found out that XXcopy
will not produce a bootable drive in NT/2K/XP.
Then I discovered that the same people have produced a product that
claims to clone NT/2K/XP drives. You can get a beta copy from
<www.xxclone.com> and I believe I'm going to give it a try.
Then I really have to get some work done......
Is there anything I should be looking out for (aside from wasting time
on dubious productivity enhancements)?
