Got my new toy today. Age: 11 years.
Manufactured spring 1993.

Bright and clear TFT display. Works perfect. Only one pixelerror.
Battery is charging (+4 hours), but if it's actually working..naaah.
TrackPoint is dead, but the external PS2-mouse is okay.

486SLC 25/50 MHz, 16MB RAM and 120MB ESDI HD.
DOS and OS/2 Warp.

This, the very first ThinkPad can be upgraded with a 340 ESDI HD.
The HMM says in the Parts Listing, that there is (were) a 240/340 MB Upgrade System Board available with FRU#53G7823.

Is this a different ESDI controller, because the original can't handle more than 120MB ?

This must be a question for the elderly within the mailinglist ;-)

By the way. The rubberpaint seems very sensitive. One must be very careful not to peel it of with a nail.
At least that's how it feels.
Have had two PS2 Note 51sx with so deteriated rubberpaint, that it actually was glue.
At some point IBM must have changed the perscription of the coating.....since the 600/770's in this house doesn't have this fragile feeling.

With my very best regards
Brian Hougaard Baldersbaek
