There are three different X31's: 2672, 2884 and 2885. According to
tabook.pdf, the 2672's and most of the 2884's take PC2100 DDR266 RAM,
while a few 2884's and all 2885's take PC2700 DDR333.
Can I put PC2700 DDR333 (2 x 1 GB) in a 2884-JUU that is rated for PC2100
DDR266?
The reason why I'm asking is that the memory selector for Crucial,
Kingston and Viking only offer 512 MB / PC2100 DDR266 sticks for the 2884.
Also, the 2884-JUU maxes out at 1 GB (PC2100) according to:
http://www5.pc.ibm.com/us/products.nsf/$wwwPartNumLookup/_2884JUU
OTOH, all X31's share the same chipset (Intel 855PM) and the same memory
controller (82855PM), so shouldn't 1 GB sticks work in all of them?
Thanks, Dominique
