Hi Martin,

I actually have a T41p, and the Fire GL T2 hasn't failed me yet. Though,
now with the T42 and the 9600, I can't comment on how those would do. But
so far I've been able to play most games that have come out recently,
UT2004, Hitman Contracts, etc.

Hope this helps,
Adam

Subject: [Thinkpad] Fire GL T2 128 & Gaming

Hi,

it might have been asked before, but anyhow: ASAIK IBM offers nowadays four
different graphic accelerators in its T series:
- Mobility 7500 16/32 MB (oldest chip on T30/40 modells)
- Mobility 9000 32/64 MB (newer chip on T40/T41 modells)
- Mobility 9600 64 MB (debutes with T42 modells)
- Fire GL T2 128 MB (available in p modells since T40p)

Now I do not tend to use my new thinkpad (might be a T41p with 1,5GB - using
the price advantage for more RAM) for gaming. But a nice game every now and
then - why not.

So, is the Fire GL T2 with the proper drivers any good with gaming,
especially one that demand directX 9 support? Or would the 9600 be a far
better choice?

Thanks for any info on this.

Martin
