Unless you're considering an extremely expensive ultra-high-end LCD
monitor your T42p will drive whatever external resolution you desire on
a common external LCD. Typical LCD resolutions right now are 1280x1024
for 19" and smaller and 1600x1200 on 20'+ (until you get to the really
expensive ones).
If you are considering those high-end ones (multi-thousand dollar
models) including the widescreen ones, someone here with a T42p will
have to answer that question. You may also find the answer by going to
the graphic chipset manufacturer's web site and finding the specs on the
T42p's graphics chip or by hooking up an external CRT monitor and
looking in the Windows Display Settings for available resolutions.
