Hi Martin,

I had the same issue with my X30 - I used a shareware program called
BootIt NG to resize the NTFS partition, then the XP disk tools to
create a new partition in the resulting space. I really shouldn't have
tried this without backing up, so please don't follow my example.

I didn't install Bootit to my hard drive, as I didn't need the boot
manager functionality. I just created a boot floppy, and used the tools
on that to resize the partitions.

Obviously this changed the MBR on the hard disk, which resulted in
losing access to the IBM Recovery Partition (it was still there, you
couldn't boot to it). I had to go through some complex steps to get it
back. You need to create another boot floppy which restores access to
the partition; but in order to do that you need to boot to the recovery
partition! If I had done this step before I altered the partition
tables, I would have been laughing; as it was, I had to go the hard way
round.

Good Luck.

Mark
