Subject: [Thinkpad] Need recs for IE on W2K system
On some earlier testbed machines I successfully deleted IE with
IEradicator. I got back almost 100 mb of
space and the machines continued to function fine with one exception: I
lost the Quicklaunch function, which
is very useful for putting the DT on the toolbar.
Anyway having learned from this experience I am testing a W2K install
and have decided to retain the
IE code but I'd like to:
-- halt IE browser functionality (so it is not a security threat) with
the option to bring it back
transiently (e.g. if needed for some miscoded site which needs IE)
e.g. by renaming some
file. Can anyone recommend ideas or options for this?
Thanks for all help.

Jeffrey
Any reason not to go with Win2K Lite? <www.LitePC.com>
You can install without IE then add it back at a later time.

Takes about 15 minutes and one re-boot to install or remove IE from my
XP system. I sometimes install it to get updates then remove it
afterward. I'm sure it's still hiding copies of the cache all over the
place (and I can't go after them from DOS anymore) but at least it's not
present most of the time.
