Mostly preference, I like to load Windows on the first partition and
data and the Windows setup files on the second partition.
That way when I have to purge Windows and reinstall I can format C: and
reinstall from D:

In this case since the 560x only saw 8.7 Gb I figured that would be a
good size for the OS and applications.
I suppose it's just as well that the 560 BIOS can recognize the first
partition although the data I'll really want to extract from the disk
would be on the second partition which I expect I'll need a copy of
Windows running to get to it.
Maybe booting with a Windows floppy would let you get to the files n the
second partition.

I'll update you all when I get everything loaded onto the drive and get
it back into the 560x.
