The cable/plug in the rear of the screen probably disconnected/broke when the screen popped out

Subject: [Thinkpad] Thinkpad t23 LCD ribbon
I bought an IBM thinkpad t23 a few months ago and it was a great
little toy until I dropped a heavy book on it and bent the screen. I
opened it up, straightened out the screen and popped it in again. But
believe it or not, about a week later I dropped another heavy book on
it. I tried to fix the screen again but this time, when I put the
screen back in, the screen went all white. Its getting power but its
not getting any signal from the video card. I'm pretty sure this is
true because I put the screen into a friends IBM it worked fine. Also,
I can use the laptop when its hooked up with an external CRT
monitor.... So my question is... Are my deductions correct and what
parts would I need to fix this problem and where would I get them? or
would it be better to just send the thing to a computer shop? I would
like to fix it myself because it would be an interesting experience
and it would probably cost less.
