Actually, if you have a high end out of warranty machine or a high end refurb, it is a good deal.

Check on the ibm site for an extension; most models
may be extended from the basic 3 to 4 or 5 y.ears
YMMV: You may not be able to do this once your
original warr expires, and some models are not
eligible (such as refurbs). The ibm extension is a
much better deal - you'd get 2 years of factory ibm
service for about that $.

imo, notebooks are one of the few consumer products
where the extended warrantee is worthwhile. I'm a bit
predjudiced as ibm's 3yr wr saved me from having a
$2450 paperweight.
