There certainly are 2.5" to 3.5" drive adapters available so you can
plug your laptop drive into a desktop system as an interal drive. There
are also 2.5" USB drive enclosures that you can use to plug it in
externally. In either case you simply have to remove your HDD's
ThinkPad-specific plug on the end and probably also the drive 'caddy' or
tray held on by four screws on the sides of the drive.
I don't know if your typical big electronics retailer like Best Buy,
Frys, Circuit City, CompUSA, etc. would have these items but I would
think it likely. I know they are available on-line from many places.
Maybe try a Radio Shack or something like that??
