Hello Bill,
thanks for your quick response.

I imagined that, but I hoped that I perhaps just didn't look with the right search words in the search engine...
I found a price list for NEW ThinkPads for Spain (currency: Euro) at the www.lenovo.com Website, it's a PDF-file from July 2005 and it's titled "LISTA DE PRECIOS TOPSELLER EXPRESS".
I can send it to you, it's only 141 KiloBytes large.

Okay, you're propably right. But this would be anyway too complex, I think about something much more easy...
Forget the conditions of used items, there might be millions of conditions a used laptop can be in, depending how and by whom (business man, mad scientist, teenager, etc.) it was used.
Nobody can make a price list which considers possibles signs of usage, even a classification of +++ / ++ / + / - / -- / --- would be subjectively. So let's forget that criteria for our price list ;-)
I think, it is sufficient enough, to have such a lists updated one a year - because it is only about getting an idea, a glimpse, an appoximate value, how much a ThnikPad of that specific model
You didn't look at the german Apple-Mac-Community I had written about in my first posting, did you?
There you will find lists of the market values of used Apple Computers, Laptops and even Servers.
It's a coincidence, that most of the lists are quit new. Before that, they were really outdated, but even than they gave some good appoximate values for people without any clue of buying used hardware (like me).

Yes, the final prices at eBay are allways too expensive.

Funny thing is, that the vendor wants to repair it before selling it to me, but he is asking me, how much money I would spend to see, if it is enough for him to get rid of this unknown "problem" the offered Thinkpad seems to have.
Oh, and the vendor is not selling at eBay, he claims to be an "IBM ADVANCED BUSINESS PARTNER" and I found him with a search engine looking for a ThinkPad dealer near me.
I would not consider buying valuable electronic devices such as a ThinkPad at eBay unless it is a really really really good deal for me because of the shipping.
I am very sceptical, that a private salesman / vendor is able to pack the commodity properly!
You know how packages are handled by the guys from UPS, DHL, FedEx and all the other delivery companies - it is like a far throwing contest or like dunking at a basketball game :-o
thanks,
pitsche
