[Thinkpad] HDD significantly slow down

Hello all,

Some time ago I replaced HDD in my T41 from 40 to Hitachi 80GB
HTS548090M9AT00 and recently I noticed significant slowdown in Windows
hibernation tasks. Now TP needs three or four time to go to hibernate
mode and wake up from it.
I have Windows XP SP2 with latest patches available and McAfee
Viruscan Enterprise. There is no difference if IBM Active protection
for HDD is on or of.

Also before that I had two occasions of UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME, but
manage to repair it through Recovery console of Windows XP. Also
repaired boot.ini file.
For all uninitiated with this error, I found on Microsoft site that
this error is not big deal and it can be very easy repaired. When I
sow it for the first time I need several minutes to recuperate but,
now I know that this is standard behavior of Windows. :o)) Now I can
smile at it, but at the first I was socked.

So, can you recommend me some kind of drive fitness test, or any other
hint how to proceed?

TIA

Gordan
