[Thinkpad] Transfer IBM preload from hard drive

Hi Everyone

I bought a T41 a few months ago. It came with a 40GB HD with Windows XP
pre-loaded in a partition called 'IBM PRELOAD'. I immediately installed a
60GB HDD and installed a fresh copy of Windows XP which I bought a while
ago.

I kept the original 40GB HD and have mounted it in an enclosure with a view
to using it for downloading video from a camcorder prior to editing. I
think I'll need the whole 40GB so may need to clear out the disk. However I
don't want to lose a licensed copy on XP Pro, which I may reinstall if I
sell the computer one day.

Q:- How would people go about storing the data on IBM preload? I was
thinking about creating a partition for it within the 40GB disk then
creating a copy of the partition using Norton Ghost. I have DVD burner and
should be able to save it there.

Thought/advice gratefully received.

Best wishes

Simon
