I don't know if it exists but you could make a transreflective screen
with a VGA plug that would clip onto the front of your display and plug
into your external monitor port.
It would be much more visible than the stock screen, you'd get better
battery life (no backlight) and you wouldn't look as dorky as the guy
with the goggles.
The early HP omnibooks had non-backlit screens that were excellent in
sunlight. Unfortunately they're only 9" across and monochrome.
I wonder if anyone makes a color transreflective screen?
