I work outside at least one day, and sometimes three or more days, a
week and have to contend with glare and screen brightness issues.
I have both purchased and constructed covers to shade the screens of
laptops, but found them all unusable for my purpose which requires
mobility, convenience and functionality in adverse conditions.
What I do at this point is create a separate user account for field
work. This account has a white background (I actually use a diagram of
our WAN), no desktop icons to reduce clutter and a large, black cursor.
Fortunately, I'm usually able to position myself to reduce glare or
create shade, but even under the worst of conditions I find this setup
usable.
I realize this probably isn't very attractive for those who just want to
sit outside on a sunny day, but it's the best compromise I've found for
my situation.
