One thing that attracted me to this one was the Dans's Data review which
said it worked more consistently than other's he'd tried. (This assumes
it is exactly the same as the one he reviewed, which is a matter of
faith, as the company names are different.) There are benchmarks for

For 3.5" and 5" drives it has a switching power supply which plugs into
the drive's molex port. For 2.5" drives there is no way to get the
power to the drive except through the pins, which means it needs a USB
port that can supply adequate power. The built-in port on the TP is
fine, but when using a pcmcia card one needs a powered hub.
