A recent PentiumM model such as a T40 will more than meet her
requirements and have the added benefit of being a current model.
A "plain vanilla" T40 can be had for as little as ~$800, is tough as
nails, has WiFi built-in and will run for up to 6 hours on the 9 cell
battery alone.
No special power adapter is required, the IBM brick will take anything
from 100V to 240V.
Heck, make me an acceptable offer for my old 2373-8CU upgraded with a
7K60 HD and IBM a/b/g WiFi card and I'll drop it off next week on my way
up to Wilkes-Barre!
