My 600E has the 6 key closer to the left than to the right. My desktop also.
The right edge of the 6 six key almost lines up with the division between G
and H. That says to me 6 is to be pressed with the left hand, and that's
what I've always done. (Although I _am_ left handed, and I use the left for
B as well).
So I've always been quite happy with the configuration of the MS Natural
keyboard.
