Thanks Ray,

I think I've got newer PS/2 keyboards in the basement, I tried one
of those. All I can find are USB mice though! :(

What's really strange is now it's working again! I've got my split
KB plugged in through the Y-adapter and in the bottom USB port on
the notebook. I tried and tried, it sometimes worked and sometimes
didn't (and same with the newer KB).

What I can't do is plug in my cordless USB mouse into the top port
on the notebook. If I do that, it works okay but the external
keyboard stops working! :(

I bought this little mouse (Logitech) for travelling, it's wireless
and optical and has a storage compartment for the USB adapter in
it. It also folds up a little smaller (collapses) when not in use.
 When I got it I found it way too small but now I find regular mice
too big! :(
