[Thinkpad] Battery won't charge in A30

I purchased a new battery from Laptops for less. They said I would have to
upgrade the BIOS for it to work. I did that but it still will not charge.
The battery info program shows no current flowing into the battery. the
voltage shows 11.1 and the battery shows 0 % I feel like it is a software
problem, but I have no idea where to go next. any thoughts ?
