I've been moving drives between different makes and models of notebook
computers, USB cases, drive bay adapters etc. for too many years and I
have never ever seen any symptom of this claimed need. Other than the
issue of physical size, where 600 and T2x vintage take 12.5mm, T4x 9mm, my
Vaio needs 8mm thick drives and X4x needs mini (short) 9mm drives, I've
found that any drive from any machine was totally moveable anywhere else.
