Thanks Michael, and thanks to everyone else who answered (I won't spam
the list with multiple responses).
In the end, the organizers had a couple of powered speakers about 3'
tall, I think they're designed to be used as a pair from a central
source (they each had a floppy antenna on them) but each also had a
3.5mm (1/8") AUX input. I just plugged into one of the speakers with
a 3.5mm-3.5mm cable and it worked like a charm! It was a relatively
informal banquet arrangement, so quality of sound, only one speaker,
etc., wasn't an issue. I was surprised the hotel didn't have an issue
with this setup, but if they had, it wouldn't have been my problem. :)
