I decided I'd better update all the ThinkPad drivers and such, since
it's been a while. My old IBM Update Connector never worked right,
and it looks like it's no longer supported. So I downloaded and
installed ThinkVantage System Update, which seems to be the
replacement.
When I start running it, it pops up a window "User Information" which
identifies my machine (logical enough). However it says:
Machine type and model: TP-1R___
Operating system: Windows XP
Language: EN
It really does have underscores in the machine type, I'm guessing at
three. In fact I have a TP41p 2373-GEU.
Assuming the above information might actually be correct, I let it
continue, and when it gets to 16% complete (during "Downloading
package information: Lenovo Help Center (1 of 1)") I get an error:
Searching For Updates
Error 75 received from the Package Index Server. Please contact the
Support Center.
I couldn't find this error message by googling (did find an Error 76
question posted on the ThinkPads forum but no answer that seemed
relevant to my problem.
Can anyone explain the problem? Suggest a solution?
Thanks!
