I don't use Windows myself, but when digging through a windows partition
from an old ThinkPad, (A30) I came across an XML file that appeared to have
a hardware inventory of the laptop. I don't remember the name of the file,
and that drive has since been reformatted.

Did you uninstall Update Connector first? Maybe you should reinstall Update
Connector from CD then install ThinkVantage on top of it.

Just a thought.
