APM isn't supported by my kernel, but I was able to gerry-rig a
solution. After much research, reading, and prodding from compatriots
on the Ubuntu forums, I was checking my /etc/rc0.d files and noticed
one named K10reboot. Well, I thought that strange since /etc/rc6.d is
where rebooting is handled and /etc/rc0.d where shutdown is handled.
Simply removing the symlink did the trick; now it shuts-down properly!
Thanks to all who tried to help me through this!
