Message-ID: <20030611090755.50000.qmail@web12401.mail.yahoo.com> Hi, May I please ask two brief questions: 1. Do you have any binary port of MIT Scheme 7.7.1 to Mac OS X v. 10.2 Jaguar? 2. If not, will your Windows binary version run on Virtual Windows XP Professional for Macintosh, a simulated Win XP Pro platform running on a Motorola G4 processor? 3. (slightly facetious) When do you plan (if at all) to update #f and the empty list to be distinct objects (I've seen this plan apparently unaddressed for years) ;-) ? Conceptually, they are very different objects.... Sincerely, Benjamin L. Do you have any binary port of MIT Scheme 7.7.1 to Mac OS X v. 10.2 Jaguar? No, primarily because the Scheme compiler hasn't been ported to the PowerPC. I don't know if OS X runs on the ix86 architecture, but if it does, it should be easy to get that running. 2. If not, will your Windows binary version run on Virtual Windows XP Professional for Macintosh, a simulated Win XP Pro platform running on a Motorola G4 processor? I don't know -- I have never tried. 3. (slightly facetious) When do you plan (if at all) to update #f and the empty list to be distinct objects (I've seen this plan apparently unaddressed for years) ;-) ? I would definitely like to do this, but it's a lot of work, and unpleasant work at that. It would probably take me a month of effort, working full time every day. Since MIT Scheme is no longer my primary responsibility, it's impossible for me to set aside a month to do this. The only alternative would be to work on it a little bit at a time, but there is much more interesting development to be done, so it's hard to justify using my time to do something so unimportant. Conceptually, they are very different objects.... Yes, but: it really isn't very important that these be separated. Common Lisp and its predecessors have been without this for 40 years and they are perfectly usable languages. The Scheme standards committee argued about this for many months before deciding to separate them, and the vote was pretty close. So I'd say this is a pretty small issue.
