[OmniBook] omnibook 500 - docking station - cdrom

hi all,

as some of you might know, my omnibook 500 was given by a friend, without
the dcking station, recently, i bought the docking station, along with the
cdrom for it. upon receiving my package, i think i failed to get the cdrom
to appear in winxp, nor boot from cdrom.

however, the cdplayer (no notebook) seems to be working perfectly, it playes
audio cd flawlessly. i've set various settings in the bios, doesnt seems to
work,

1) is there a way to know if my notebook is connected to the docking station
correctly

2) how would i remedy my problem, i was considering reinstalling winxp (or
winME, winxp seems a little slow)
