Try pressing F2 again and again and again as soon as the laptop begins
to boot.  Someone has probably switched off the HP logo in the BIOS
("quietboot" or something) but F2 should still work, if that's the
correct key.  

Once in the BIOS, check to see whether there are any interesting video
settings... +++++++++++++++++++
 
 
COMMENT: The HP Omnibook 600C doesn't have a BIOS in the traditional
sense. The low level formatting on a 600C is not accesible to the user.
It can be flashed, but it cannot be adjusted.
