I installed Xubuntu 6.06 LTS on it, then I donwloaded the omnibook source code tarball and build it without problems. When I load it, everything is OK. My concern is about the lcd feature. I am able to read the lcd status and write but nothing happens in the real world: the lcd backlight remains at the same level. If I change the level by using the function keys, the backlight level changes, but the lcd file doesn't get modified. So basically the lcd file in /proc/omnibook seems to be disconnected from the real lcd backlight. Am I missing something ? Ah, I am able to turn off the lcd by doing: echo off > /proc/omnibook/lcd But this is the only feature that seems to be working for the lcd. Do you know of any other case like this ? Am I doing something wrong (probably yes:) I would appreciate very much any help or suggestion about how to have this feature running in my Omnibook. Before: I successfully used i810 driver with a res of 1024x768@32bpp After: I can only use 1024x760@16bpp, non accelerated, using the fbdev driver. The i810 one simply freezes my video. Please please please tell me why... I read a lot of things (on this list and the Internet) about i830M problems with BIOS and shadow RAM... but PRIOR the upgrade ALL WAS GOOD... Cheers, Piero
