How involved is the process? I know now (through a seller on ebay) that I must remove the screen in order to make sure I get the right part. How do I do this safely? Does it require any specialized tools? Thanks for the info. Chris -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Does it require any specialized tools? Try looking your model (and it's specific part number) up on http://partsurfer.hp.com You might be able to determine the display model you need and then it will probably come with replacement instructions. I found the manual for the OB500 pretty easily. These manuals used to be available as .pdf files at hp.com if you dug deep enough, but lately it seems they don't care about supporting their products to that level for the general public. Better yet, just buy yourself a used 4150 for $50 on ebay and save all the trouble. Why on earth would you put so much work into such an old machine? ----- Original Message ---- From: Matt Taggart To: SCSEFamily@aol.com Cc: omnibook@zurich.csail.mit.edu Sent: Wednesday, January 3, 2007 10:30:29 AM Subject: Re: [OmniBook] Omnibook 4150 LCD screen replacement SCSEFamily@aol.com writes... > Hello all, I am a novice looking to replace an lcd screen on my somewhat old > omnibook 4150. Message-ID: <52d09421594058ea360cbb3619eb0d4b@maltin.org> Hi Folks, My OB6000 was having a little trouble with a loose power socket, so I took it apart. Now I'm too busy to put it back together. All the parts are in good condition (except for the loose power socket :). I'm not sure where to find a detailed parts list for the OB6000 (maybe someone could post that info to the list?) but if you want a screen with only 1 dead pixel, or some RAM or whatever, drop me a line. The good old Omnibook served me very well for six years, and I'd like to see it's guts go to a good home. -judd omnibook@maltin.org From tenllado at dacya.ucm.es Tue Jan 30 04:31:20 2007 From: tenllado at dacya.ucm.es (Christian Tenllado) Date: Tue Jan 30 04:31:27 2007 Subject: [OmniBook] Toshiba satellite A100-121 Message-ID: <1170149480.3228.28.camel@localhost.localdomain> Hello: I have loaded the omnibook module on my new Toshiba Satellite A100-121 with Phoenix Bios, but /proc/omnibook is empty.
